Live Green: Reduce Waste and Recycle!

You have powers, my friend. Maybe not mad fly-through-the-air-
and-punch-villains-in-the-face powers like ol' KAB Man, but significant powers nonetheless.

No, the powers you have are at the cash register. And the trash can.

Look, you buy stuff every day, and when you pull out your fat wallet, you make some pretty important choices. I suggest you choose products that are recyclable or, even better, made from recycled materials. That's good. 'Cause when you do that, you complete the Great Cosmic Recycling Loop™ that keeps the whole system working like a finely-oiled machine.

trashcanYou throw stuff out every day, too. About 5 pounds of stuff, according to the KAB Man Department of Top Secret Reconnaissance (D.T.S.R.). And a whole lot of that stuff is recyclable. Paper. Plastic. Steel. Aluminum. Glass. It's all good to the recycling man. So why throw it in the trash? Recycling saves energy, creates jobs, conserves resources, and even helps to fight global warming. Use those colorful bins, and use them properly. Know your local recycling system, and use it for good... never for evil.

I could go on about recycling, but let's not forget about reuse either. Reusing or "repurposing" is the lowest-impact you can have with an item. You're creative, so I won't bore you with examples. Just no more paperweights, OK?

So make a difference. Be a responsible consumer. Become a super hero or pony up a few bucks to help us spread the word.

Or, just get a reusable grocery bag or coffee mug.
